It’s been 30 years since Wendy’s first aired this iconic commercial, and many are still wondering, “Where’s the beef?” In fact, of the 332 optional responses, 9% used the word “where’s” and 13% used “beef.” It’s no contest that this ad’s sentiment still rings true today.
The question of which QSR brand has the biggest burgers was still plainly debatable among many of our consumer respondents.
Likewise, the score for the Relevance component was 15% above the QSR 90-day norm, indicating that the ad reflects the thoughts and feelings of even today’s consumers.
While this throwback ad came in with one of the highest Ace Scores (655) of any QSR brand in the last year, it was only partially due to nostalgia. Thirty-two percent of the survey’s 500 respondents had no recollection of seeing the ad before (on TV or online).
